Ron Schlie
Ron Schlie was a young Boy Scout when he first felt the movement of a canoe. He did not know what he was doing and the canoe seemed to go in circles, but he did not care, because he was the Captain. The old, battered paddle in his hands was an extension of his arm, and its movement through the water made the canoe respond to his desires. He was only a boy, but somehow he knew with more experience and knowledge, that he would journey through the far north in a canoe.
He lives in Syracuse, New York with a wonderful woman who understands. His job is something he does so he can be a canoeist. Over the years he has had fourteen canoes, canoed countless miles, enjoyed hundreds of campfires with good friends, and learned enough to be a canoe instructor. He is a current member and past newsletter editor and Club Commodore of the Ka-Na-Wa-Ke Canoe and Kayak Club. He will continue canoeing as long as the Great Spirit allows.
For years he has been selling his photography, but this is the first collection of pieces.
